ABOUT THE LOCATION:
Fremantle, Perth or ‘Freo’ as this engaging port town is affectionately known, is just 30 minutes from the centre of Perth. Wander around its heritage streetscapes lined with late Victorian buildings and you have a sense of being transported to another time.
Freo is acclaimed as the finest example of a 19th Century port town in the world but more than simply heritage, Fremantle has an effervescent ambience with a strong food, arts and culture focus that we think you will love.
Covered markets, live music, cafe strips where the pavements fill with diners, while fresh fish and seafood is on the menu at the harbourside restaurants down on the waterfront. Or watch the Ferris wheel from the very popular Little Creatures boutique brewery. Sounds too good to be true but it’s not. All of this is within walking distance of our fantastic host venue and the sweeping beaches of the Indian Ocean.
Debbie Crothers, a well known polymer clay artist from Geraldton Western Australia is "drawn to creating the unusual" and loves "adding bits to her clay"! With a huge passion for polymer clay, Debbie thoroughly enjoys teaching, experimenting and marrying mixed media with polymer clay to create interesting and thought provoking pieces.
Debbie's bubbly personality will leave you feeling like you have been friends for a lifetime.
Debbie travels internationally to teach and creates and writes tutorials for her website and various magazines as well as being a regular contributor to a new magazine - The Polymer Studio.
Anyone who has the good fortune to be able to attend one of Debbie’s workshops is certainly guaranteed a great experience with lots of energy and encouragement in a fun environment. Attendees come away from Debbie’s classes with a renewed passion for creating and a desire to continue learning and experimenting.
Pam Annesley - Metal Clay Art Studio is an accomplished jewellery designer and textile artist from Perth. Throughout her childhood, Pam was always painting, drawing and making things. Her creative life has led her down many pathways to a serious passion for polymer clay. Pam has years of teaching experience with an array of materials but it is polymer clay that has taken her to learn and teach overseas. Pam is a calm nurturing instructor with a wealth of information to pass on. Pam was involved in the development of an arts venue, Mary Lindsay Homestead in Yanchep Perth WA. A hub for community arts development, workshops, gallery space and home base for the Trycan community of polymer clay enthusiasts. They meet the first Saturday of each month and are a group of talented individuals who will welcome you regardless of skill level. Pam has an annual teaching position on a cruise ship and travels interstate to teach so we are pleased her busy schedule has enabled participation in our event.
From a very young age, Lucy Struncova has been a growing talent in the world of polymer clay. Lucy and her family changed the way we work with polymer clay through the development of the well known Lucy Clay Tools in the Czech Republic. It all began with a childhood dream and some blocks of polymer clay at the tender age of 11. Lucy immediately fell in love with it! Lucy produces Polymer Week magazine. A contemporary publication loaded with inspirational articles and tutorials from artists around the globe.
Lucy is also the organiser of Polymer Week, a 3 day event held in the Czech republic hosting international artists - Lucy herself, one of the instructors.
Lucy's business commitments are juggled with all the challenges a university education holds! Lucy's work is well known throughout the world and we are very pleased to be bringing this amazing young artist and her refined fresh style to Australia!
